The "search for users" box is simply not functional on page http://sciencex2.org/en/people and for valid search terms, like alex, attila, ranjan, bartlett I tried it give the red error message: "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator."
re-login does not work as help, still validation error but after clearing the browser cookies the searches are functional both in Firefox and under Safari and of course clearing cookies makes you logged out. However after re-login the validation error comes in which can be cleared out again by cookie removing and log out.
Interesting bug.

For the pieces I author, I would like to be able to edit the links to related content because the automated suggestions are not always appropriate or the best choices. For forecasts, there should also be a way to link an article to other forecasts or hypotheses. Currently, I can only link to signals. By the way, there is a typo on the website for linking signals to forecasts. The word "signal" should plural.
Philip, thanks for the bug report. The typo is fixed.
Regarding associating signals and forecasts with related items manually, would "POOLS" and "SETS" satisfy those requirements? Please read this post: http://www.sciencex2.org/en/node/38681
I reached the maximum 100 alertness points with both of my last two signals, yet there is still 98 point showed after many refresh. Why? Are you still calculating the points?
Attila
I am not being notified to comments on my posts. Given the general clutter on the homepage, the lack of notification makes it difficult for me to check on any developing dialogue. It would also be useful for everyone in a particular thread to get notification to new comments instead of only the original person who posted.
Participants need a better way to communicate internally. As someone who works on China, I would love to toss out some ideas to people who work on other regions and specializations about how our work might link up. But I would rather not do this in a public forum.
I still cannot seem to get rid of the formatting codes that appear whenever I post. Some users may prefer to see this information but I don't think it is useful for the general public. Can you please assist in getting rid of this from the forecast I just uploaded and tell me how to avoid this in the future?
As for the abstracts, I think they are useful in the list of signals. But once readers click on a signal, the abstract appended at the bottom of the page is redundant because it is usually identical to the first paragraph.
If you are having problems with format codes imported from word, try using the "paste from word" button in the editor toolbar (its between bulleted list and hyperlink). this gives you the option to "clean" style information that word uses before pasting the text into your signal body. Please let us know if that solves your problem.
Regarding abstracts - agreed. when we roll out the changes to the signals viewing interface, we will hide the abstract so it isn't there by default.
The pictures of contributors on the Home and Explore pages appear on my screen as little more than dark rectangles with the occasional cheshire cat grin. As handsome as some of the contributors may be, miniscule mug shots on the first page that new visitors see does not exactly add to the aesthetics of the site.
Often when I edit comments, what appears in the editing box is not what appears under preview. The spacing is generally off and I cannot seem to fix the problem or delete the entire item and start again.

known drupal issue
This is a known issue with drupal that the search sometimes stops working. (It's related to cookies).
If interested, here is a technical discussion about this issue

Does the problem occur consistently, and what is the result of clearing browser cookies, close/reopen browser, and re-login then search?
I'll look into the established workarounds for this problem. BTW search works consistently for me.
clearing cookies works but re-login reintroduces the error

would signal pools achieve these goals?

Dashboard
The dashboard does not list hypotheses. I also find it limiting that I cannot post an hypothesis without first referencing a signal.
Email Alerts
Email alerts to group suscribers are not sent out for new signals and forecasts, only hypotheses.

New Signals Missing
Two of my recent signals on computing in China (nodes 52906 and 52903) do not appear on the Explore page unless I log in. Is this normal?

Here are some of the growing list of signals that do not appear on the Explore page unless logged on. Many users do not register on the website and will miss this information, often time sensitive.
